
New York Ranks Low for Drinking Enough Water
When was the last time you took a sip of water? If you had to stop and think about it, you might not be drinking as much as you really should. A new survey shows that many people in New York could use a little more water each day.
New York Lands at Number 34
Coventry Direct surveyed more than 2,500 people across 48 states about their water habits. New York ranked 34th on the list of the most hydrated states. People in New York said they drink about 6.18 cups of water each day.
Most Americans Are Falling Short
This is not only a New York problem because Americans drink an average of 6.5 cups of water a day. General hydration guidelines can start at about 11.5 cups a day, but the amount a person should drink can change based on age, activity, weather, and other factors.
Why Aren’t We Drinking More?
The biggest reason is simple. People forget. Almost half of those surveyed said they forget to drink water. Others said they do not feel thirsty or are too busy during the day. For me, I don't stop and take the time to rehydrate.

A Water Bottle Might Help
The good news is that 83% of Americans own a reusable water bottle. Keeping one can serve as a reminder to take a drink. So,grab that water bottle and take a sip. New York has some catching up to do. To see what states drink the most and least amount of water in the United States, go here.
