New York Announces Tuition Covered for 1,000 Healthcare Workers

New York State announced the "Nurses For Our Future" Scholarship. The scholarship will cover tuition for 1,000 new or current healthcare workers so that they can earn an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) at a two-year or four-year New York State public college or university.

Governor Hochul said;

For the last two years, New York's nurses have been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we owe each and every one of them a debt of gratitude,". "As we continue to fight the virus, the 'Nurses For Our Future' scholarship will offer an important opportunity for the next generation of nurses to receive a top-tier education and ensure they are prepared to help protect their fellow New Yorkers

With an eye to attract new nurses to the Empire State, there will be up to 500  scholarships awarded for out-of-state licensed nurses who relocate and practice in New York State to earn a BSN.  In addition, there will be 250 scholarships offered for current New York State licensed nurses to earn a BSN and, and 250 more scholarships for New York State residents who are new to the profession, and seeking their ADN.

The "Nurses For Our Future" Scholarships will cover the costs of tuition for four full-time semesters. They will not cover other costs such as fees, room-and-board, or other expenses.

The "Nurses For Our Future" program will be spearheaded by SUNY and CUNY.  They will actively be recruiting nursing and health care professionals throughout New York State.
