How the Empire State Celebrates National Tequila Day
It’s National Tequila Day (July 24th), and if you’re in New York, chances are you’re celebrating with a frozen margarita made with lime, Patrón tequila, and a salted rim. That combo, nicknamed The Chill Sophisticate, was named New York’s top margarita style in a recent national survey from Serve & Savour.
A Margarita That’s Smooth and Strong
New Yorkers like their drinks to taste good and pack a punch. 52% say they prefer their margaritas on the stronger side, which is more than most other states. While most people stop at two, 1 in 10 New Yorkers admit they’ll go for three or more.
Frozen Wins in the Empire State
Across the country, people are split on frozen vs. on the rocks. But in New York, frozen is the favorite. And when it comes to tequila, top-shelf brands like Patrón are the go-to choice.
Salt, Please
When it comes to the rim, New Yorkers play it straight. Most want a salted rim instead of sugar, keeping things simple and classic.
Where We Drink Them
Most people in New York prefer to enjoy their margaritas at a restaurant, especially at Mexican places. But whether you’re out on the town or relaxing at home, it’s always a good time for a good margarita.
Margaritas Are a Mood
Tequila has a way of making people feel bold some have admitted to texting an ex after a few drinks. While that stat wasn’t broken down by state, we’ll just say... anything can happen after margarita number three. But really, don't text your ex.

Cheers, New York!
Whether you’re sipping in the city or toasting in your backyard, National Tequila Day is the perfect excuse to enjoy a frozen margarita with all the classic fixings just the way New Yorkers like it. Go here, to see how every state likes their Margarita.
