While more and more residents are getting vaccinated against COVID-19, the pandemic still continues to claim local lives.

On Friday, April 23, Broome County reported two more deaths attributed to COVID-19 while Chenango County reported one more death.  Broome’s death toll now stands at at-least 333 while Chenango County has lost 73 residents.

New York’s positivity rate is under two percent for the first time since early November, but infection rates still surpass what they were last summer when there were concerns about surges associated with Memorial Day, graduations, Fourth of July and other celebrations.  New York on Sunday, April 25, reported 4,087 new infections, adding to the two-million case total passed April 21.  There were 50 additional deaths reported on Sunday.
