Does Mom Actually Want You To Stop Serving Her Breakfast in Bed?
I'm not much of a breakfast eater, but you know what? If somebody wants to make breakfast for me, serve it to me, and clean up afterward- I'm all in!!
While I'd be ecstatic to stay snuggled under the covers in my pajamas and be served breakfast in bed on Mother's Day, not all moms want the same.
Zagat released a survey which found that a staggering 54 percent of moms said they "loathed" being served breakfast in bed and that they'd much more like to be treated to a meal anywhere but at home. According to the survey, 39 percent of moms said they'd like to be treated to brunch with their family.
Do you think it's strange that mom dreads the thought of being served breakfast in bed but wants to go out for brunch? Here's my theory: no good intention goes unpunished.

I think that there's a fear among moms that even though we're told not to worry about cooking or cleaning on our day, we know the truth. The truth is that once we set foot in the kitchen we're going to see the disaster that happened while breakfast was being made. Things aren't going to be cleaned or put away to our standards and when there's a mess, we feel burdened with having to clean and straighten things and that's not what we're supposed to be doing on our day.
With that said, I also think that the mindset of moms has changed a lot since the pandemic. I feel like we learned how fast life can change and that spending time with the ones we love is what matters more than having a clean house.
I think this year, a hug, a phone call, a letter, or even breakfast in bed will bring your mom more happiness and comfort than it has in a very long time.
