Authorities say a man was injured during an exchange of gunfire involving Broome County sheriff's deputies in the town of Windsor.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies were sent to a residence on Cascade Valley Road around 12:30 a.m. Saturday after someone fired a gun toward a vehicle.

The vehicle apparently had been turning around at the end of a driveway near the home.

Authorities say deputies were confronted by a man who was armed with a handgun.

There was an exchange of gunfire and a projectile struck the man in the shoulder. He was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment. His name and condition were not released.

No sheriff's deputies were hurt in the incident.
