I never thought I’d write about something like man hugging, but here I am.  The whole topic of man hugging came up yesterday when our IT guy Sean was in a miserable mood and our sales guy Adam asked Sean if he needed a man hug to which Sean said “No.  I don’t hug.  Ever.”  The thought that Sean never hugs anyone ever made me sad.  I mean, everyone should hug somebody, right?

The next thing I knew, there was a big discussion among the men in the building about man hugging and whether or not it’s okay for guys to hug other guys.  They all agreed that there isn’t anything wrong with it, but when I asked them to hug for me, they got all red faced and refused.  Except for Sales guy Adam and Digital Editor Mark (they’re the ones in the picture to the top left.

I don’t get what the big deal is.  It’s not like you’re make out mauling the other guy.  You’re giving a simple hug.  An “I’m here for you man” reassurance.

Maybe I don’t get it because I’m a girl and an affectionate one at that and I don’t know bro code or whatever.  Help me out.  What do you think of man hugging?
