Make Sure You Wash These Pesticide Ridden Fruits and Veggies
CNN and the EWG has released its annual "Dirty Dozen" of fruits and veggies. The list ranks the most pesticide ridden foods. Some of them may shock you.
Since 2004 the Environmental Working Group has released its rankings of the fruits and veggies than contain the most pesticide residue.
Human consumption of pesticides can result in a plethora of ailments. Pesticides can cause infertility, cancer risk, and other health concerns.
The "Dirty Dozen" are as follows:
1. Strawberries
2. Spinach
3. Kale
4. Nectarines
5. Apples
6. Grapes
7. Peaches
8. Cherries
9. Pears
10. Tomatoes
11. Celery
12. Potatoes
The EWG has some tips in helping to avoid pesticides:
The recommendations from the Environmental Working Group are to buy and eat organic produce, especially fruits and vegetables found on the Dirty Dozen list. However, if your budget does not allow you to eat organic, fruits and vegetables are better than none.
