Free Family-Friendly Event in Maine New York
The Town of Maine has been celebrating their Demisemiseptcentennial (175th) anniversary all year long and they aren't done yet. This Saturday, September 9th, the celebration continues when the Nanticoke Valley Historical Society presents Mini-Maine Fest.

It's at the J. Ralph Ingalls School (recently inherited by the society), 35 Church Street in Maine beginning at 11 a.m. with music by "Dreambird." Other musical performances include Marisa & Jordan from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Austin Macrae from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
It's free so bring your lawn chair or blanket to the school for some great music and food by Smokey Legend BBQ.
Plein Air Out Art Competition at Maine Fest
The event will also feature the Plein Air Paint Out art competition. "Plein Air" is a French term that means "open air." and this is where someone takes their easel outdoors. Then they paint landscapes and any other outdoor subjects that they observe along the countryside.
Any artists that are interested in being a part of the Plein Air competition can get all the details here or contact Phil Childs at (607) 862-3405 or Richard Henry at (607) 754-0535. The art show begins at 4 p.m. with judging and awards at 4:30 p.m.
The music and BBQ will take place on September 9th, rain or shine beginning at 11 a.m.. In the case of rain, the Plein Air and Art show could be moved to September 10th. Keep up with the latest details on their Facebook page.
The Nanticoke Valley Historical Society is a non-profit organization that was founded to preserve and showcase the History of the Valley with their museums, schoolhouse, Grist Mill and Carriage Barns.
