I love it when a bunch of breweries and wineries get together to show off their products.  It's like getting to know a new friend.  Mix that with your actual friends and maybe a few co-workers you actually want to hang out with, and you've got a good time and enjoyable night in the Southern Tier.

Wine tastings are always popular here in the Binghamton area.  Beer tastings are also equally popular, judging from the success of past beer festivals like Binghamton On Tap, which I understand is coming back to Binghamton this fall, people like to experiment with new tastes.

In the meantime, there is a bunch of local breweries getting together Friday (August 19) with some beautiful scenery as the backdrop and the weather sounds perfect to sample the night away.  From 5-10pm, Local Brews at the View is taking place at Mountain Top View, 51 Anoka Road, near the Greater Binghamton Airport, in Nanticoke, New York.

This event will feature four outstanding local breweries and one winery:  Binghamton Brewing Co., Galaxy Brewing Co., The Farmhouse Brewery, The North Brewery and Black Bear Winery.  They don't get anymore local than that and take it from me, these locally owned businesses produce some excellent products. It's a great opportunity to sample some good hometown suds and wine.

Your ticket will get you all the offerings of our full clambake plus one sample of amazing beer/cider from each brewery. Then you will have the option to get the beer/wine you sampled at our bar for no extra charge.

According to the event flyer, there will be "all you can eat clams, shrimp, steak sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, hot/sweet sausage, beef and pork bbq sandwiches, clam chowder and some great salads. Labatts, Bud Light, wine Soda, iced tea, lemonade and soft serve ice cream are included in the ticket price too."

Adult price is $47.50 (21 and over only) and can be purchased at the gate or eventbrite.com
