Authorities say 71-year-old Franklin Farrell is accused of grabbing a victim by the arm causing cuts, brandishing a knife when another person tried to intervene and attempting to stab that second person.  The second victim sustained cuts to the stomach and arms before picking up a running board of a vehicle that was lying nearby, warding off the attack.

Farrell is charged with two counts of assault after being treated at Tri-County Hospital for treatment of his injuries.  He was sent to the Chenango County Jail without bail and an order of protection was issued for both alleged victims.
