Growing up in Binghamton and attending college next to Lake Erie in Western New York, I have a great appreciate for the water and the Great Lakes.  However the "greats" have something more to worry about.  Shrimp.

While I love shrimp on the barbie, CBS News reports that killer shrimp could "join the more than 180 invasive species that are reportedly in the Great Lakes," mostly due to commercial ships that can carry these species. Climate change also has much to do with the changing waters.

These threats are most damaging to the multibillion-dollar fishing industry, especially Asian carp species, with the killer shrimp, monkey goby, zebra mussel and others affecting the industry big time.

According to researchers, "the Canadian and U.S. governments would work together to create regulations to minimize invasive-species risks."
