Kate Gosselin’s desperate attempt to get back in the spotlight has backfired in a really big way.

The former reality TV mom is using her teen daughters Mady and Cara to get interviews, but it doesn’t look like they’re enjoying it. Mady and Cara gave an interview to People magazine and that went fine, but when they appeared on the Today show yesterday it was a complete disaster.

When Savannah Guthrie tried to ask Mady and Cara some questions they barely answered, and Kate was obviously irritated.

“This is the most wordless I've heard them all morning,” said Kate. “I don't want to speak for them but, Mady, go ahead. Sort of the things that you said in [People] magazine, that years later they're good, they're fine. Go for it, Mad. it's your chance." To which Mady replied, “No, you just said it.”

Kate later tried to do some damage control by taking to Twitter and writing: “1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless,” and then she claimed the two girls had “stage fright.”

Kate’s ex, and Mady and Cara’s dad, Jon says he had a hard time watching the awkward interview. "I felt upset,” he told TMZ. Then I felt really bad. I mean, I didn't care too much for Kate or whatever, but I felt really bad for Mady and Cara because I love them and they're just put in this situation. It was like deer in the headlights."

Sure, the girls are 13 and that’s just a fantastically lovely age for any girl, but Kate is so domineering and when she snapped her fingers, my jaw dropped. Unbelievable. If my mom snapped her fingers at me on National television, I'd shut down too. I've got friends who personally know the Gosselin family and the stories they've told me about Kate's diva attitude would blow your mind. Jon wasn't a saint either, but it's pretty obvious to me that Kate is all about Kate and more concerned about herself than her children although she tries her best to make us believe otherwise.

A lot of people are coming to the defense of the girls saying that they were probably nervous. I don't think that's it. These girls have been in front of the camera since they were only a few years old.  They grew up with cameras in their faces, reporters and photographers. I could be wrong, but I think that controlling Kate probably had the girls rehearse what they were supposed to say so that she wouldn't look worse than she already does and when the time came to speak, the girls decided to do a little payback and gave their mom the silent treatment. Typical 13 year old girl stuff.
