Jared Kraham Announces Campaign for Binghamton Mayor

Binghamton deputy mayor Jared Kraham says he'll be a candidate to succeed Mayor Richard David.

The 29-year-old Kraham has served as David's executive assistant since 2014. David is in the final year of his second four-year term. He can't run again because of the city's term limit rule.

Kraham, a Republican, announced his candidacy Tuesday morning. He said he believes the city has made "great progress rebuilding and revitalizing Binghamton" during David's time as mayor.

Kraham said while work has been done to deal with infrastructure and blight in the city, there still are "challenges on the horizon."

Kraham chairs the city traffic board. He also is co-chair of the Binghamton University Town Gown Advisory Board.

Jeff Kraham, Jared's father, served as Broome County executive from 1997 to 2004.
