The days of having to spend hours at the Department of Motor Vehicles are over! Instead, we can find a mobile DMV location to visit in hopes for less time spent doing something that isn't fun.
When Was The Last Time That You Were At The DMV Office?
I don't know anyone who looks forward to visiting their local DMV. For many years, people have been mocking DMV offices in TV shows and movies.
I believe it's also about perspective. When we know that we're visiting a DMV office, we could schedule time out of our day to be available for this experience.
The last time that I visited a local DMV office in the Hudson Valley, it was many years ago. I went to get a new driver's license and take a new picture for it. I didn't wait too long for this to be complete and everyone that worked there was somewhat friendly, haha.
In 2025, we have evolved in many ways. Customers now have the option of visiting mobile DMV locations throughout New York state.

Do You Need To Visit A DMV Office To Get A Real ID Or New Drivers License?
All over social media, we may have noticed the need for New York state residents to get a new ID or driver's license.
The New York state DMV office explained what residents would need to fly starting May 2025. They included,
"A REAL ID is a federally compliant DMV-issued driver license, learner permit, or non-driver ID that will be required to board a domestic flight (within the U.S.) or enter certain federal buildings starting in May 2025, unless you have a valid passport."
They also included,
"If your New York State license or ID does not have a star or a flag on it, then you do not have a REAL ID-compliant document."
Be sure to check your ID or driver's license right now before you forget! The DMV's website provides guests with a link to explore what they would need to get a new ID or driver's license.
The New York state DMV explained that guests can visit their offices and mobile DMV locations to get a new ID or driver's license.
See If Your County Is On The List Of Mobile DMV Locations In New York State
The New York state DMV has provided us with information on how we can visit mobile DMV locations in the state. There's a link for customers to click on that will give them detailed information about each mobile DMV to visit and more.
There are mobile DMV locations in Broome, Erie and Monroe counties. There are more locations in Washington,Otsego and Renssealer counties as well.
In the Hudson Valley area, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties provide convenience at their mobile DMV locations. They include location schedules of where guests can find them throughout the week.
