An Endwell bridal salon sustained extensive damage when an out-of-control truck knocked down a pole and slammed through a large display window.

The crash at the intersection of East Main and North streets occurred around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

The driver of a large tow truck owned by a Vestal company was injured when the westbound vehicle slammed into the Bridal Emporium.

Jeanne Lyons, who operates the business with her daughter, said she had been advised that the man who had been driving the truck fell asleep at the wheel.

The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition was not known.

Lyons told WNBF News the front half of the tow truck wound up inside the front portion of the store. She said the crash caused heavy damage to the building.

Lyons said a heavy-duty wrecker was brought to the scene to remove the tow truck involved in the incident. She said the structure sustained additional damage as the vehicle was pulled out.

This isn't the first time there's been a vehicle crash at the site. Lyons said a vehicle operated by a drunk driver took out a pole and some bushes in a crash outside the business two months ago.

It's unclear how long it will take to repair the damage caused when the truck hit the building on Sunday. For now, the Bridal Emporium remains closed.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
