Rumble Ponies Series Recap And This Week’s Fun Promotions

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies just finished a six-game series with the Reading Fightin Phils last week and are back at Mirabito Stadium for a six-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats.

Today, August 4th, the Mets organization announced that five prospects that the New York Mets acquired around the 2026 MLB trade deadline have been assigned to Binghamton.

The players include: INF Jefferson Rojas (No. 1 & No. 63 overall), INF Émilien Pitre (No. 17), RHP Gary Gill Hill (No. 19), RHP Gabe Davis (No. 20), and INF Billy Amick (NR).

Rojas was acquired by the Mets from the Chicago Cubs in a trade for right-handed pitcher Clay Holmes and outfielder Tyrone Taylor on Monday. He now ranks as the Mets’ No. 1 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 63 overall prospect. He is also the No. 2-ranked third baseman prospect in baseball.

Tuesday, August 4th is Twofer Tuesday, and the 1st 1,000 fans on August 4th (rescheduled from April 25) will receive a Dino Nugget Luau Shirt.

Wednesday, August 5th is We Care Wednesdays, highlighting a non-profit making a difference in the Southern Tier. Arrive early to hear about how you can help each respective non-profit with carrying out their mission in the community.

Also on Wednesday, the Rumble Ponies will honor the Deposit-Hancock High School girls’ softball team at Mirabito Stadium before the game, recognizing the players and coaches on the field before the game.  

The Eagles captured the Class C New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) state championship on June 13 with a 4-3 win over Galway at Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park in Binghamton, winning their fourth state championship in the last five seasons and completing the season with a 23-2 record. Deposit Central and the combined Deposit-Hancock have now won eight state championships in the last 12 years, which includes two “three-peats” (2015-2017 and 2022-2024).

Thursday, August 6th is the 2nd annual Veterans Expo at Mirabito Stadium. All veterans may receive up to (2) complimentary reserved grandstand tickets to the game. All veterans can stop by the Visions Federal Credit Union table on the concourse to receive a voucher good for a complimentary hot dog and regular fountain drink.

Thursday is also Throwback Thursday with a new and revamped look, and it's Italian Night as the Rumble Ponies celebrate and honor the rich traditions, culture, and contributions of the Italian community.

Friday, August 7th, the Fireworks Show will take a break on this special Friday night as the Rumble Ponies host their first-ever Drone Show.  It will be a spectacular 10-minute drone show set to the music of Taylor Swift.

Saturday, August 8th features a Taylor Swift-themed Jersey Giveaway. Be one of the first 1,000 fans for a special Life of a Show Pony-inspired Taylor Swift-themed jersey giveaway.

Sunday, August 9th is Every Sunday is a Family Funday at Mirabito Stadium with something for the entire family! Enroll your kids 12 & under into the Dick's Sporting Goods Kids' Club for special pre-game events taking place for the first hour gates are open. All fans 60 and over have the opportunity to take a walk around the Warning Track with the Home Instead Senior Stroll.

And, Sunday is Post-Game Catch on the Field. Pack your gloves and play catch on the field before the game. All fans looking to play catch on the field can report to the left field gate by the tarp to gain access to the field. Catch on the field is for the first 15 minutes following the completion of the game, and kids run the bases.

Tuesday, July 28

The Rumble Ponies game against the  Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium on Tuesday was postponed due to inclement weather, with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, August 1st.

Wednesday, July 29 - Fightin Phils - 7  Rumble Ponies - 6

Binghamton surrendered a two-run lead over the final three innings and fell to Reading 7-6, in walk-off fashion on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, Binghamton recorded at least 10 hits for the third consecutive game.

Binghamton right-hander Garrett Stratton tossed a perfect 8th inning with two strikeouts and got the ball in the 9th inning in search of his first Double-A save in a 6-5 game.

Mets No. 5 prospect, shortstop Mitch Voit, led off the contest in his Double-A debut for Binghamton and laced a double off the center field wall. Then, with two outs in the first inning, second baseman Nick Lorusso delivered an RBI single to make it 1-0 Binghamton. Nick Lorusso tallied his team-leading 19th multi-hit game.

Thursday, July 30 - Fightin Phils - 7  Rumble Ponies - 2

The Rumble Ponies were held to two hits in a 7-2 loss to the Fightin Phils on Thursday night as Reading took a 2-0 lead in the series. For the second straight night, Binghamton took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, engineered again by shortstop Mitch Voit.

The Mets' No. 5 prospect walked to lead off the game, then chalked up his first Double-A stolen base before scoring on a balk from right-hander Luke Russo, who did not signal he would work from the windup with a runner on third base. Russo allowed one run over 4.0 innings of work with three walks and four punchouts.

Binghamton right-fielder Matt Rudick hammered a two-out double in the eighth inning for his 10th double of the year, but was stranded by Harper. Right-hander Christian McGowan got the ball in the ninth inning and allowed one walk to catcher Chris Suero, which extended his on-base streak to 16 straight games, but went scoreless to shut the door and secure the win.

Friday, July 31 - Fightin Phils - 6  Rumble Ponies - 5

Right-hander R.J. Gordon recorded seven strikeouts over 7 innings in the start, but Binghamton fell to Reading, 6-5, in walk-off fashion on Friday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Gordon spun a season-high and career-high-tying 7.0 innings with a season-high-tying seven strikeouts, while allowing three runs on six hits and no walks. It marked the fourth time in Gordon’s career that he went 7.0 innings in a start. Over his last two starts, Gordon has combined for 14 strikeouts and just four earned runs allowed over 12.0 innings.

Binghamton raced out to a 2-0 lead against right-hander Gage Wood in the third inning. Designated hitter Chris Suero and third baseman Nick Lorusso blasted back-to-back home runs off Wood, the Philadelphia Phillies’ top prospect. It marked Suero’s 13^th home run and Lorusso’s 17^th long ball of the season.

Second baseman Mitch Voit went 2-for-4 with a walk, reached base three times, and has reached base nine times over his first three games with Binghamton. Nick Lorusso recorded his team-leading 17^th multi-hit game. Kevin Parada recorded his fourth multi-hit game and first multi-RBI game.

Chris Suero recorded his 15^th multi-hit game and extended his on-base streak to 17 games,  and shortstop Wyatt Young reached base three times and has reached base at least twice in three of his last four contests. The Rumble Ponies finished the month of July with a 7-16 record.

Saturday, August 1st - Double Header
Game 1 - Rumble Ponies - 10  Fightin Phils - 5
Game 2 - Fightin Phils - 5  Rumble Ponies - 4

In Game 1, the Rumble Ponies homered four times in one game for the third time this season and for the first time since May 19, against Richmond. 

In the bottom of the first inning, the Rumble Ponies tallied three hits and four runs to take a 4-0 lead. Catcher Chris Suero broke the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly, as he scored shortstop Mitch Voit, who led off the game with a single.

Left fielder D’Andre Smith then belted a three-run home run that went 459 feet to dead-center field for his second big fly of the year and his first since May 19.

 Binghamton right-hander Noah Hall made his Double-A debut, but shortstop Bryan Rincon got to him on the second pitch of the inning to make it 4-1 on his 18th blast of the year. The Rumble Ponies offense tallied double-digit hits (12) for the fourth time in the last six games. 

In Game 2, Reading right-hander Braydon Tucker retired 13 straight batters before a single from newcomer third baseman Billy Amick in the fifth inning. Tucker allowed just one hit over 5.0 scoreless innings with no walks and five strikeouts. 

Binghamton out-hit Reading in game two with six hits to their five as the Ponies tallied all six hits over the final three innings. It was Binghamton’s third one-run loss of the series. Nick Lorusso 18th & 19th HR, team-lead 55 RBI and 21 multi-hit games.

Sunday, August 2nd - Rumble Ponies - 9  Fightin Phils - 3

Mitch Voit tallied a four-hit night with five runs batted in as Binghamton topped Reading 9-3 on Sunday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. Reading took the six-game series, 4-2. 

Right-hander Reese Dutton toed the rubber for his first Double-A start, and on the first pitch of the night, shortstop Mitch Voute clubbed a leadoff home run for his first Double-A big fly.

Voit chalked up his four-hit game, with three extra-base hits, and was a triple shy of the cycle. The last Binghamton hitter to hit for the cycle was Jeff McNeil on May 13, 2018, against the Portland Sea Dogs.

Binghamton left-hander Felipe De La Cruz made his first start of 2026 and tossed 2.0 scoreless and hitless innings after he surrendered two walks in the first inning.  Mitch Voit’s big night rolled on as he hammered a two-run double to finish off a four-hit game. It was the third time this year a Binghamton hitter tallied a four-hit game. 

Then, Suero followed and belted a two-run home run for his 14th homer of the year and his second of the series to give Binghamton a 9-3 lead. Binghamton right-hander Carlos Guzman threw a scoreless eighth and ninth innings with two strikeouts to seal the victory.  The Rumble Ponies chalked up three double-digit hit games in the series and have done so in five of their last eight games.

Accolades

 The Rumble Ponies announced on August 3rd that infielder Mitch Voit was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of July 28th to August 2nd.

Voit, who ranks as the Mets’ No. 5 prospect, produced a .500 AVG (11-for-22), .593 OBP, .909 SLG, and 1.502 OPS in six games against the Reading Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium this past week. In his first series at the Double-A level, Voit hit one home run and recorded five runs batted in, 10 runs, six extra-base hits, four doubles, one triple, five walks, and three stolen bases.
