Binghamton police are working to find the suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred at an East Side home.

Police officers were sent to the single-family residence at 9 Andrews Avenue around 10:35 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities said a man at the home had sustained a gunshot wound to an arm. The injury did not appear to be life-threatening. Police said the man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not known.

Area police agencies were advised that the suspected shooter was a man who had been wearing a mask and a camouflage jacket. It was not known whether the suspect left the scene in a vehicle.

Investigators believe the man who was wounded and the shooter know each other.

The house where the shooting happened is on Andrews Avenue between Robinson Street and East Frederick Street. It's located less than a block south of East Middle School and a short distance west of Calvin Coolidge Elementary School.

Police advised the school district to lock down those buildings for a short time after the shooting as a precaution.
