In a press conference on Tuesday, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and the Broome County Parks, Recreation and Youth Services Department announced an end of the summer beach bash at Nathaniel Cole Park.

The beach bash is on Saturday, August 27th starting at 2:00 pm. It will feature a variety of activities for families and people of all ages, including the usual swimming and boating available at the park all summer as well as nature walks, a slip and slide, yard games and food vendors. There will also be live music along the beach.

Additionally, there will be fire pits along the beach and fireworks across the lake, Rowdy from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and the Binghamton Black Bears mascot will be in attendance, and magician David Black will saw one of the Broome County Parks Department employees in half.

BC Transit will provide free rides to and from the beach bash from the Arena in downtown Binghamton starting at 2:00 pm and ending after the fireworks display.

"Today I'm really excited to announce that on Saturday, August 27th, we'll be bringing out our latest community event here to Cole Park when it gets transformed into Broome County's Beach Bash," said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. "We have some of the most beautiful parks in the state and we're always looking to find ways to bring people out to them and see the great things that they have to offer. And we know that once they come to visit, they'll keep coming back.

The beach bash event had previously been planned for the summer of 2021, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Broome County Parks Department was forced to cancel the it.
