Construction Underway For Binghamton’s Circle K Travel Center

Construction has started on a "mini travel center" on Court Street in Binghamton.

New Jersey-based Briad Development paid $1.3 million to acquire the two-acre site between Liberty Street and Brandywine Highway last November.

For several decades, a Columbia Gas office building stood on the property. After NYSEG acquired Columbia Gas, the structure was torn down.

Two small structures that were later built on the site were demolished last January.

The new Circle K complex will include a convenience store and two quick-service restaurants. Dedicated drive-thru lanes will be available for customers of the Wendy's and Dunkin' units in the travel center.

When Briad presented the project to Binghamton officials, the center was expected to include a Jimmy John's restaurant but that element later was changed to Dunkin'.

Circle K has several locations in central New York but none in the Binghamton area. The company's nearest store is in Tully.

Alexandra Seward, director of marketing for The Briad Group, told WNBF News by email that the Binghamton businesses are expected to open in July or August.
