The Binghamton Bearcat women's team dropped its America East semifinal contest to the Maine Black Bears to finish 19-12 overall and 10-6 in America East earlier this month.
The Mercyhurst Lakers finished second in the NEC and lost to LIU in the conference championship game. Mercyhurst is 15-16 on the year and finished 14-4 in conference play.
Thursday night is just the second-ever meeting between Binghamton and Mercyhurst. The Bearcats earned an 85-70 victory in 2001.
According to Binghamton University Athletics, this is the first time the Bearcats have been in a postseason tournament since 2018. That year, the team played in the Women's Basketball Invitational.
