Need a Passport? Head to the Broome County Passport Fair
If you're planning any sort of travel in the near future and need a passport, you should make plans to attend the Broome County Passport Fair on Thursday, September 15.
The Broome County Passport Fair will be held at the Chenango Town Hall on State Route 12 in Binghamton from from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.. Note that this Passport Fair will be by appointment only. If you'd like to schedule an appointment, you can do that here.
Broome County Clerk Joe Mihalko said, “We know many of our friends and neighbors
need to obtain a passport but may not be able to come into our downtown Binghamton office during normal business hours.”
By hosting the Passport Fair in the Town of Chenango, the hope is that more people needing or wanting to get a passport will be able to.
"If you have been considering applying for a new passport, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of the convenience of passport services coming to our own Town Hall,” said Town of Chenango Supervisor Jo Anne Klenovic.
The Broome County Passport Fair will be held in the Community Room at the Chenango Town Hall. Application forms will be available, although you can download a copy of the passport application in advance here. Passport photos will also be taken on site during the Passport Fair.
The cost of a passport is $130 for adults and $100 for children under the age of 16. Passport cards are also available but they are only good for land and cruise ship travel. The cost of a passport card is $30 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 16. There is a $35 processing fee for each application, and a $10 fee for passport photos.
Anyone attending the Passport Fair will need to be sure to bring:
- A) an original or a certified copy of their birth certificate with a raised seal and
both parents names - B) their photo ID
- C) two (2) checks to cover the fees. Cash and credit cards will not be accepted at the Passport Fair.
Anyone applying for a passport will also need to know where their parents were born along with their dates of birth. Anyone under the age of 18 will need to have both of their parents with them in order to apply for a passport.
