Stock Up on Stamps Now Because Another Price Is Likely Happening Soon
Most people have gotten really lazy when it comes to handwriting and sending letters ever since our world was opened up to the simplicity of using email but there's something really special about opening the mailbox and finding a handwritten note from someone. If you think about it, sending a hand-written letter has become something of a lost art. Even the act of sending Christmas cards isn't as popular as it was just five years ago.

It feels like the price of stamps is constantly climbing (the last price increase was actually on January 27, 2019) and according to AARP, another price hike might be headed our way. The United States Postal Service has requested another postage price increase and if the Postal Regulatory Commission approves the request, we would see the price of a stamp increase by 5.5 percent starting on August 29, 2021.
If the request for an increase in postage prices is approved, the price of a stamp will increase from 55 cents to 58 cents. Postcards sent domestically would jump from 36 cents to 40 cents, sending an international letter would cost an extra 10 cents, bringing the price from $1.20 to $1.30, and a one-ounce flat mailer would rise to $1.16 from $1.00.
It's inevitable that the price of the stamp will only continue to climb but there's a way to lock in low prices now and that's by stocking up on Forever stamps. Right now, a Forever stamp is 55 cents but when the price of the stamp increases at the end of August, the price of the Forever stamp will also increase from 55 cents to 58 cents each. You can buy Forever stamps right now for 55 cents each and even if and when the price of a stamp increase to 58 cents or more, your 55 cent stamp will still cover the full amount of sending a letter domestically with no additional stamps needed to make up the difference in price ever.
