Halloween is always a popular time of the year here in the Southern Tier.  Families love to get together to experience everything they can do before the you- know- what starts to fly.  Sometimes that includes picking apples at one of our many respected apple orchards, hitting a local pumpkin patch or a cider mill.

Traci's post on best places to pick apples and pumpkins was a great one.  Click HERE to read more.  My post on the best cider in the Greater Binghamton area, also seemed to get a lot of interest. Many people do not realize that there is more than one place to get cider in the Greater Binghamton area.  Click HERE to read more about the best cider in the Southern Tier.

Another great event happens in Vestal as the 3rd annual Haunted Rail Trail takes place October 15, 21-22, and 28-29 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.  The trail has been changed this year to make it even more scary and frightful.

This year's 20-25 minute tour will start at the Vestal Coal House, where a guide will take you upstairs to begin the unforgettable journey.  From then it's on to the trail of fright.  Live music, magicians and campfire stories have been added to enhance the fun.  And according to their Facebook page, there will be kids activities and concessions.

Admission to the Vestal Haunted Rail Trail is $6 per person, with those five and under admitted free.  If you have questions, you can reach out by calling 607-221-3727 or email vestalcoalhouse@stny.rr.com.
