New York Among The Grossest States And That's Not Fair

I find this a little hard to believe but New York and Pennslyvania are on the top ten grossest states list in the United States according to Zippia. They based this on air quality, trash, and the CDC's ranking on the spread of illnesses like the flu in each state.

New York is a perfect 10 after finishing tenth but I have to admit that I'm shocked by how gross Pennsylvania ranked (4th) on their list. You can check out Zippia's entire criteria here.

I've lived in the area for most of my life and between taking trips in my convertible, softball tournaments, and vacations, I've seen the beauty that surrounds us. In fact, I had a chat with a recent transplant from North Carolina...I know it's usually the other way around.

They remarked that the reason they like our area so much is because of the beauty that surrounds us. The changing leaves on the trees in the fall and the falling snow in the winter.

We truly have four seasons in the year...and sometimes we'll get them all in the same week. So how is it that New York ranks so low? I'm guessing that once again, we are being lumped in with New York City.

I'm not saying that the Southern Tier is the Garden of Eden but it can look darn close on a beautiful fall afternoon. Take a drive along the Cannonsville Reservoir between Deposit and Walton and you'll have a chance to see the beauty in our area.
