Written and recorded by country superstar Dolly Parton in 1971 the song reached number four on the Country Singles Chart.

Dolly got the idea for the song while touring with Porter Wagoner on a bus, Dolly wrote the lyrics on the back of a dry-cleaning receipt, Porter Wagoner kept the receipt and actually had it framed.

The song became Dolly’s signature song and there was even a movie and Broadway production based on the name.

In 2003 the Country music industry released an album of country stars recording Dolly Parton cover songs called ‘Just Because I’m a Woman: Songs of Dolly Parton
