Delaware County Man Indicted for Possession of Controlled Substance
The Delaware County District Attorney's Office has announced the indictment of Frank A. Mazepaa 28-year-old man from Morris, New York, for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a Class D felony.
The indictment, handed down by the Delaware County Grand Jury, alleges that Mazepa knowingly and unlawfully possessed fentanyl or methamphetamine, with the intention of selling it in the Village of Delhi on January 8, 2024.
The defendant appeared in Delaware County Court on February 6, 2024, for arraignment on the indictment. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, and Delaware County Court Judge John L. Hubbard remanded Mazepa to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail or $50,000.00 bond. The case is scheduled for a court conference on February 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
District Attorney Shawn J. Smith commended Delaware County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Mohr, along with his K-9 partner Dexter, and SUNY Police Officer David Vorisek for their investigation of the case. Chief Assistant Richard D. Northrup Jr. presented the case to the Grand Jury.
