Flood Watch for Twin Tiers

The National Weather Service in Binghamton says a Flood Watch continues for portions of Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania including Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware and Tioga Counties in New York and Susquehanna, Wayne and Bradford Counties in Pennsylvania until 7 p.m. November 1.  There is a flood warning for the Chenango River at Chenango Forks until late Friday night with minor flooding reported along the river banks.

Forecasters say rainfall amounts from overnight October 31 of 1 to 3 inches have produced minor flooding along smaller streams and creeks in the headwaters of the Susquehanna and Upper Delaware Rivers. This flooding is ongoing and will likely continue through most of the morning hours.

Officials say high water flow from recent rainfall will continue to drain downstream into the main stems of the Susquehanna and Upper Delaware. As this occurs today, some locations may approach or reach minor flood stage. 

NOAA says a Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
