In May of this year, I was given an amazing opportunity to donate my bone marrow to a young woman, a complete stranger, through the National Marrow Donor Program. I know nothing about the young woman except that the transplant was desperately needed for her survival and that if all goes well, and if she wants to meet me, we'll be able to see each other a year after the transplant date.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I hope that I have the chance to meet the young woman who now carries a piece of my DNA, and I think it's because I was able to be part of something so extraordinary that this story hit me so hard in the heart.

Last winter, a 20-year-old woman named Abigail died in a hotel pool. After she passed, Abigail's family decided to donate her organs, and so far, there are four men who've received pieces of her.

Abigail's dad, Bill Conner is on a journey to honor the memory of his daughter by taking a 2,000-mile bicycle ride to raise money and awareness for organ donation. On his journey, Conner was able to stop and meet the 21-year-old man who received Abigail's heart. Cameras were rolling as the two met and Connor was presented with a stethoscope so that he could listen to his daughter's heart beating inside the recipient's chest.

Grab a tissue because you're going to need it.
