Today, April 7th is "National Beer Day." In 1933, the Cullen-Harrison Act was signed into law and it reversed the prohibition on selling beer in our country. Then in 2009, Justin Smith decided to commemorate the historic day and made his own unofficial National Beer Day. Thanks, Justin.

Some people will use any reason to hoist a cold one, especially on a Wednesday. Looking for another reason to have a brew? It could help you to live into your 90's. A recent study said that drinking beer daily can nearly double the chances of hitting 90.

However, more is not better when it comes to drinking. It's recommended that a maximum intake of alcohol is three "nips" of whiskey or two pints of beer a day. I have NO idea how much a nip is, I'll leave that up to you.

Beer Drinkers Are More Approachable

According to another study, they found that both men and women who drink beer seem more approachable than any other drinkers. Maybe it's because, after you have a few, you now have the courage to talk to that woman across the bar. I call it the power of the "beer goggles."

I had always heard that if you had red wine in moderation, that it would help us to live longer. Maybe it's alcohol in general...once again in moderation. By the way, do you know what Traci's favorite wine is? "Glenn quit picking on me." Whoops, that's a different kind of whine.

Keep This In Mind On National Beer Day

Okay, now that I've pointed out the possible positives, I should mention the downside. This is not a reason to begin drinking. The more you drink, the more that you can increase your risk of cancer.

Sorry about the negative on National Beer Day, but I want you to keep that in mind too. Okay, it's time to cheer up with some cheer of our own. Happy Wednesday.
