Did Lady Gaga Really Jump Off the Roof of Houston’s NRG Stadium During Super Bowl 2017?
Lady Gaga made waves with her impressive, career-spanning Super Bowl 2017 performance last night (February 5), but it was the beginning of her set that left fans with the burning question: Did Gaga really jump off the roof of Houston's NRG stadium?
Shortly after delivering a brief mashup of the patriotic songs "America The Beautiful," and "This Land Is Your Land" -- which some outlets have interpreted as a subtle political statement and a rallying cry for unity among citizens -- Gaga seemingly leapt from the stadium's roof before delving into a medley of her biggest hits.
While her jump has spawned some of the greatest Internet memes of 2017, it turns out the standout moment was actually pre-recorded, according to video footage shot by fans inside the stadium, that began circulating online shortly after the “Born This Way” singer’s performance aired.
TMZ further reports that while the jump was pre-recorded, it should render Gaga's performance no less impressive. She was still suspended in real time above the stadium, and she didn’t employ the use of a body double.
