Cuomo Says the New York State Fair Will Be Held This Summer

The New York State Fair will take place this year after being canceled last summer because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday visited the fairgrounds northwest of Syracuse to announce that plans are underway for the event. He said: "The fair must go on."

The 2021 fair is scheduled to be run for 18 days. It's to be held from August 20 through September 6 in the town of Geddes.

Cuomo said there will be capacity limits at the fair. He expects attendance initially will be capped at 50 percent of capacity. The limit could be increased if Covid-19 infection rates are deemed to be low enough.
