The Tioga County Health Department is holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic February 5 in Candor.

According to a posting on the health department facebook page, the clinic will be held at the Candor Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. February 5.

The clinic is only for those in group 1b, which includes education workers, school district staff, first responders, public safety staff and child care providers.  The clinic is not for residents age 65 or older who were included in an expanded group by the state last month.

Pre-registration is required through the New York State Department of Health website There are only 100 appointments that were expected to fill up quickly.

Broome county got 500 doses of vaccine this week and the appointments for those shots were quickly snapped up. County officials say 400 doses were designated for essential workers and 100 for staff of developmentally disabled programs and homes.

Some pharmacies are expecting to receive vaccines soon. The CVS pharmacy website says it expects to start taking appointments at limited locations in New York State outside of New York City soon. No other information about what regions would be getting supplies or when appointments will start to be taken was provided.
