The Southern Tier is waking to some big news this Thursday morning and that news is that the Raymond Corporation in Greene will be closing its doors for the next two days after it was discovered that one of its employees has tested positive for the coronavirus.

According to a statement on the company website, the Raymond Corporation learned that the employee at its facility in Greene tested positive for COVID-19 and revealed that there are other employees at the same location with pending coronavirus tests.

In the statement, the Raymond Corporation stated that its goal is to protect the health and safety of their workforce and so they have decided to temporarily shut down their Greene manufacturing operations for today, July 30th and tomorrow, July 31st.

According to the Raymond Corporation,

We continue to prioritize our employees’ well-being with the utmost care and concern. We have worked closely with local authorities and health care providers to proactively respond, ensuring we are following all guidelines.

The Raymond Corporation also stated,

As an immediate response to protect the health and safety of our workforce, The Raymond Corporation has made the decision to temporarily shut down our Greene manufacturing operations for July 30 and 31 to sanitize and disinfect in accordance with recommended protocols.

In a previous statement, the Raymond Corporation stated, "We have made significant changes to our facilities and processes to comply with COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC, state and federal authorities..." continuing, "All of the changes in our facilities have been implemented with one goal in mind – to ensure the health and well-being of all of our associates and visitors."

The Raymond Corporation assures employees and the community that they will continue to update any other developments on its website.
