The Central New York Maple Festival has officially put out the call for area non-profit organizations that would like to participate in a pancake-eating contest this spring and make some money while chowing down.

Here's how it works - on Saturday, April 13th, the 52nd Central New York Maple Festival kicks off in the Marathon High School Auditorium with a "Pancake Eating Contest." This contest is an excellent way for Southern Tier non-profit groups to raise money to support their projects.

The Maple Festival gives $2.00 to every non-profit organization for every pancake the contestant eats. That's right, the more pancakes you eat, the more money you raise for your cause!

If you know of a non-profit organization that would benefit from this, send a postcard or letter to the Central New York Maple Festival at P.O. Box 291, Marathon, NY 13803. Be sure to let them know the name of your non-profit organization, address, contact person, phone number.

Also include the name, address, and phone number of the person who will be eating pancakes for your organization. Once you're approved by the Maple Festival, you can start your fundraising. This is where you get your friends, family, and community to pledge a certain amount ($1,$5,$10,$20) for every pancake you eat!

This is when you can truly eat like you're on a timer and in this case, it's actually beneficial. This is a great way to support local non-profit organizations, while having a good for even a better cause.
