Police arrested a man who allegedly chased someone while wielding an ax at a home in the Town of Chenango.

Authorities say 45-year-old Adam Kirby of Chenango Forks was charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

According to New York State Police, troopers and Broome County sheriff's deputies were sent to a residence on Route 12 in Chenango Forks.

Police were advised that a domestic dispute was occurring at the home.

Someone at the residence told troopers Kirby had chased and threatened the person with an ax. The person got away from Kirby but returned to the home after police arrived.

Kirby was arrested early Monday morning. He was taken to the Broome County central arraignment facility for processing.

Police reported no injuries as a result of the dispute.
