A plan has been developed to protect the facility that had been home to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome.

County Executive Jason Garnar said a six-month lease proposal will be submitted to the legislature.

Garnar said the county would lease the Endicott building for a nominal fee of one dollar.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Thursday morning, the county executive said the county needs to get control of the building to keep it properly maintained.

Garnar said the county will ensure that electricity and heat are provided in the facility. He said steps will be taken to secure the site.

Meetings will continue with representatives of community groups and others interested in the future of the building and the programs that had been provided there.

The county executive said the structure itself appears to be in good shape at this time.
