The Broome County Sheriff’s Office has released its weekly arrest report, and as usual, it paints a busy picture of what deputies have been dealing with. From drunk driving to serious felony charges, here’s a look at what went down across the county

Several Broome County Drivers Face DWI and Drug Charges After Traffic Stops

It was a tough week on the roads. Deputies stopped several drivers who, according to reports, had too much to drink behind the wheel.

  • Michael Benza, 24, of Binghamton was pulled over and charged not just with DWI but also with drug possession.
  • Damien Brown, 22, also of Binghamton, got into a crash in Dickinson and ended up charged with DWI and operating with a BAC over .08.
  • Ethan Brown, 23, of Port Crane faced even steeper charges: Aggravated DWI, with a BAC over .18.
  • And in Endicott, Michael Peterson, 51, of Endwell was accused of DWI and drug possession.

Lisle Man Faces Rape, Weapons, and Child Endangerment Charges

One of the most disturbing cases came out of Nanticoke. Kurt Compton, 36, of Lisle, was arrested after an investigation and charged with first-degree rape along with multiple weapons charges, including more than 30 counts tied to ammunition devices. Deputies say he also faces charges for endangering the welfare of a child.

Broome County Arrests Include Theft and Fraud Cases

Not all of the arrests involved violence or alcohol. Some were tied to theft and fraud.

  • James Roberts, 29, of Binghamton was accused of petit larceny in the Town of Union.
  • Rakim Walker-Russell, 24, of Binghamton was charged with forgery and grand larceny after what deputies called a fraud case in Chenango.

Trespass and Resisting Arrest Charges Filed in Endicott and Binghamton

In Endicott, two people found themselves facing trespass charges: Daniel Dayton, 39, and Karaena Rought, 24. Meanwhile, Maxwell Ginty, Jr., 35, of Chenango, ended up charged with resisting arrest and obstruction when deputies served a warrant in Binghamton.

 Assault and Domestic Disputes Across Broome County

Deputies also responded to plenty of disputes.

  • Jacob Finnerty, 20, of McDonough was charged with assault after a fight in Fenton.
  • Adam Smith, 46, of Binghamton, was accused of criminal mischief after a domestic incident in Dickinson.
  • Colonel Watkins, III, 43, of Dickinson, was arrested after what deputies described as a domestic dispute. He faces charges including criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment.
  • And in Windsor, Margaret Will, 41, was charged with harassment after another domestic incident.
