
Binghamton Teen Arrested in Attempted Abduction Case
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, an attempted abduction took place on Chestnut Street near Lincoln Avenue in the City of Binghamton. The Binghamton Police Department Detective Division immediately launched an investigation into the incident, determined to identify and locate the person responsible.
Suspect Located and Taken Into Custody
Just one day later, on the afternoon of Sunday, September 7, detectives tracked down and apprehended the suspect. Police say the individual in question is a 17-year-old male, now facing serious legal consequences for his actions.

Charges Filed Against the Teen
The suspect has been charged with Attempted Kidnapping in the Second Degree, which is classified as a Class C Felony. This charge carries significant weight under New York State law.
Court Arraignment and Release Details
Following his arrest, the 17-year-old was arraigned at the Broome County Central Arraignment Process. Instead of being held in custody, he has been released to the Broome County Probation Pretrial Release Program. He will remain under strict Electronic Monitoring while the case proceeds.
