Broome County Residents, Get Ready: Busy Week Ahead for Road Work

Broome County residents can expect a busy week ahead as the Department of Highways rolls out a series of planned roadworks starting on Monday, July 15th.

One of the major projects scheduled for the week of July 15 is the bridge replacement on Hooper Road, County Route 033. Hooper Road will be closed between Pheasant Lane and Farm to Market Road, with detour signs in place to guide motorists. Additionally, a sewer project on the same stretch of Hooper Road will result in one-lane road closures on the southbound lane, between Farm to Market Road and the Northwood/Manor Entrance Intersection.

In other areas, the Department will be focusing on maintenance tasks such as cleaning ditches and rebuilding shoulders on Nanticoke Road, Old Route 17, and Brady Hill Road. They will also be striping County and Town roadways using their paint truck, performing manhole repairs on Oakdale Road, and reconstructing a section of Arbutus Road.

Patching work is set to take place on Cherry Valley Hill Road, while milling activities are planned for Stratmill Road (from Colesville Road to Old State Road), weather permitting. The Department will also be actively working on catch basins and manholes on Kattelville Road.

With a variety of projects underway, drivers are urged to be cautious and mindful of any detours or lane closures that may affect their daily commute.
