I spent a good part of my weekend cleaning the basement and garage and found a number of items that I would like to recycle at the Broome County Landfill.  I was aware that there are special days and times for certain items so I wanted to share the specifics with you.

According to the Broome County recycling website, the following dates are for a free collection of hazardous waste and electronics recycling:  November 2, 6,16 and December 4th and 14th, all from 7:30am-11:30am at the landfill on 286 Knapp Road, by the Binghamton Airport in the town of Maine.

It is on these specific days that there will be no charge to recycle the following items:  oil paint, solvents, cleaners, automotive fluids, hobby/pool chemicals, computer equipment, televisions, VCR's, and fluorescent bulbs.

Mixed rigid plastic recycling are accepted year round Monday thru Friday 7am-2:45pm and Saturdays from 7am-11:45am.  Rigid plastics include:  plastic buckets, crates, baskets, plastic lawn furniture, toys, playhouses, plastic flower pots, plastic totes, drums, plastic coolers and shelving.

Recycling is a good thing to do.  Now, if my friends will be kind enough to let me use their pick up!
