Broome County Awards Grants to 13 Youth Programs
Youth programs in Broome County are getting a boost in the form of thousands of dollars in grant money.
$180,000 is being earmarked for programs that Broome County officials say impact the lives of young people in the county through anything from mentoring to sports to education.
The Youth Bureau awards go 13 programs:
The City of Binghamton Parks Department Summer Playground structured recreational program
Binghamton University’s learning program: “Summer Zone”
The Crime Victims Assistance Center “Safe Harbour: youth support program
The VINES Grow Binghamton civic engagement program that includes the Binghamton Urban Farm and projects to help young people learn social skills, food production and about environmental systems
Teen Transitional Living Program at Catholic Charities providing safe, structured housing and support for runaway and homeless youth
Gateway/Connection Center from Catholic Charities of Broome County counseling and emotional health services for youth 8-21 and their families
Farm to Home program-Children's Home focused on healthy food options
Winter Skate, Youth Basketball, Softball and Field Hockey in the Town of Conklin
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County 4H Youth Development Center at Finch Hollow
Pathways Program leading to college or careers at Johnson City Central Schools
Special Hockey Festival and Competition-Life is Washable Inc.
Compeer Youth Mentoring by the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier and
The Library/ Playground program and Waterman Conservation Education Program in Vestal.
