In a successful operation on Friday, July 19th, 2024, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant at an apartment located at 194 Main Street, Apartment 4, in Binghamton. The operation led to the discovery and seizure of a significant amount of illegal substances and a loaded firearm.

Upon entering the premises, investigators discovered a Taurus brand 9mm caliber handgun, accompanied by a high capacity 9mm magazine. Furthermore, law enforcement officials discovered a substantial amount of narcotics including 93.9 grams (3.3 ounces) of methamphetamine, 36.1 grams (1.27 ounces) of cocaine, and 14.5 grams of fentanyl/heroin. Additionally, they uncovered $7,796 in suspected drug proceeds, ammunition, and items commonly used for the weighing and packaging of narcotics.

Robert C. Wilson, a resident of Binghamton, was arrested as a result of the investigation and transported to the Binghamton Police Department to be processed on multiple charges relating to the possession and distribution of controlled substances, as well as illegal firearm possession. The charges against Wilson include:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree (1 count), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (7 counts), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (3 counts), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (2 counts), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (1 count), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (2 counts), Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (2 counts).

The operation was a collaborative effort between the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, which comprises members of the Broome County Sheriff's Office, the City of Binghamton Police Department, and the Village of Johnson City Police Department. The Binghamton Police Department's Community Response Team also played a role in assisting with the investigation.

This seizure of narcotics and illegal firearms is a significant blow to drug trafficking activities in the Binghamton area. The collaborative effort showcased by the Task Force and other law enforcement agencies involved highlights the dedication and commitment towards maintaining the safety and well-being of the community.
