Brindisi: Funding Secured for Binghamton University, Lockheed

Binghamton University and Lockheed Martin in Owego stand to receive additional federal support for a range of projects covered in the next National Defense Authorization Act.

Congressman Anthony Brindisi Wednesday said the House has approved funding to support flexible hybrid electronics research work at the university in Vestal.

Allocations also are to be made to enable Lockheed Martin's Tioga County site to partially build and outfit five VH-92A presidential helicopters.

The Owego plant also is expected to benefit from funding to develop a system that will help protect naval vessels from attacks by drones, small boats and cruise missiles.

Brindisi said the National Defense Authorization Act will include measures he pushed for to improve health and medical assistance available to current and past military personnel.

The spending proposals are to be sent to President Trump after they are approved by the Senate.
