I've been a little bit surprised by how many of my friends have told me that one of their bucket list items is "seeing Bon Jovi in concert." They thought they would have to travel several hours to them. They were very surprised that we were able to get them in our backyard at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.

They have been counting the days and now the hours till tickets go on sale this morning (1/20) . According to WBNG-TV, you can go to the Binghamton or Vestal Dick's Sporting Goods store beginning at 9am or get your tickets here beginning at 10am.

Bon Jovi isn't on my bucket list but I've been a fan since the beginning. Do you remember his first song? I do, it was "Runaway." I still have the 45. It wasn't a big hit at the time but I loved the sound and tempo. The band's next couple of songs did nothing and it looked like they were done.

"You Give Love A Bad Name" came out two years later and they've never looked back. Jon Bon Jovi even had a #1 country hit with Jennifer Nettles in 2006 with "Who Says You Can't Go Home."

Well, Jon remembers how it was when he was starting out. He was grateful to the big acts of the time for helping him get where he and the band are today.

So he's announced a new contest for the upcoming "This House Is Not For Sale" tour. Submit an audition video of original music and you could be the opening act when they come here on Friday, August 18th. ONE top artist or act will be selected.

Do you think that you've got what it takes? Go here for more information and to submit your video. I don't know if I have what it takes but I think I could do a 20 minute version of "Elvira."  People would never be so happy to see Bon Jovi perform after that.

Good luck!
