Blake Shelton performed "God's Country," his latest hit, on NBC's Red Nose Day Special Thursday night (May 23).

Backed by a band, the country star took the stage with his signature acoustic guitar in hand, singing in front of a screen that showed viewers the countryside — a scene he's quite used to, being from Oklahoma.

"I saw the light in the sunrise / Sittin' back in the 40 on the muddy riverside / Gettin' baptized in holy water and shine / With the dogs runnin' / Saved by the sound of the been found / Dixie whistled in the wind, that'll get you Heaven bound / The Devil went down to Georgia, but he didn't stick around / This is God's country," Shelton sings.

Shelton's performance benefited Red Nose Day, which provides funds to charities that focus to help children from around the world in health, education and safety.

"God's Country" was written by up-and-coming artist Hardy and Devin Dawson, along with Jordan Schmidt. Shelton previously said in a press release that the song "has a strong and deep, meaningful lyric," which could be open to interpretation since he says the song, to him, is all about his home in Oklahoma.

This performance comes after the announcement that Shelton may never make another album again. “I’ll be just as happy to release just another single,” Shelton explains to ET in an interview. “I do [have more songs] and I’ve got other stuff that I’m pumped about, but when I think about an album right now I’m like, ‘Do people care about them anymore?’ I don’t know. But I’m having a blast just releasing singles. Maybe I’ll do that from now on.”
