When is a week that goes 10 days a good thing? When it's Binghamton Restaurant Week! It all began Tuesday, and runs until Thursday September 24th.

It's an awesome way to try a new restaurant or meal and help out some good causes.

31 local restaurants are involved this time around. It's 3-course meals for $12 or less for lunch and $25 or less for dinner.

You're helping local businesses. I use the opportunity to try meals that I might not try otherwise. That was certainly was true when I stopped at Zona & Co. Grille for lunch yesterday.

I'm more of a spaghetti and meatloaf man and I might not have tried this meal otherwise but I'm glad I did. In fact, Traci and John were busting me before I went. Well I showed them.

I started with Green Chili & Corn Chowder. I love fish but I don't know if I ever would have tried Sweet Chili Fish Taco, if it weren't for Restaurant Week.

It's an open faced flour tortilla-Beer Battered Cod. I wish I asked what the sauce was that was on top because it was really tasty.

I ended my meal with a desert that I NEVER would have had otherwise. I had rice pudding with whipped cream. Why haven't I been eating this before? A huge thanks to our server, Don, for the recommendations.

This year, there are 2 charities that will benefit from Binghamton Restaurant Week. It's CHOW and Animal Care Council.

CHOW (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) feeds the hungry of Broome County through its network of over 30 food pantries and 35 soup kitchens and community meal programs.

The Animal Care Council is a non-profit organization which helps with the rescue and adoption of animals as well as offers a low cost spay/neuter clinic.
