People unhappy with Governor Cuomo's veto of wage theft recovery legislation held a demonstration in front of the Binghamton State Office Building.

The protesters who gathered on Hawley Street Thursday afternoon wanted to call attention to the measure that would have helped battle so-called "wage theft."

Cuomo vetoed the Securing Wages Earned Against Theft bill a month ago.

Supporters of the legislation say it would give state regulators the power to prevent employers from hiding assets in an effort to avoid paying workers money they've earned.

Binghamton University senior Ryan Muller said students "want protections against wage theft."

Muller said similar demonstrations supporting the legislation were being held in Buffalo and New York City.
