
Binghamton Gears Up for 57th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade
It's hard to believe that Friday is the last day of February. In some ways, this month has dragged on and in other ways, it’s flown by.
St. Patrick's Day Parade in Binghamton
In Binghamton, the biggest parade of the year takes place on the first Saturday of March and since the first Saturday in March is this Saturday, it means that the time has come for the 57th annual St Patrick's Day Parade!
If you're wondering why the parade is before St. Patrick's Day and not on it, rumor has it it's got something to do with the availability of the Mummers who come up most every year from Philadelphia just to celebrate with us!
Parade Time and Route
The Binghamton St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at NYSEG Stadium. The parade then makes its way to Court Street and ends on the corner of Main and Arthur Streets by the Belmar Pub. Thousands of people pack the streets of downtown Binghamton for this event each year.
Binghamton University Students
Expect an extra big crowd because this year as Binghamton University students will be in town on parade day because their Spring break doesn’t begin until March 8th. Most students who watch the parade will do so from State Street where all the bars are open early and that block State Street is closed to traffic.
Celebration of St. Patrick's Day
People come from all over New York State to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Binghamton. We have such a fun time with the Mummers from Philadelphia, the kazoo bands, and the Celtic marching bands, it’s a lively and joy-filled parade.
Weather for Parade Day
If you're planning to go to the St. Patrick's Parade in Binghamton this Saturday and you're wondering what the weather looks like as you're planning your festive outfit, the WBNG Storm Track 12 team reports that as of now there is a 40% chance of precipitation, with expected rain and snow showers. The high temperature for Saturday is forecasted to be around 37 degrees.

Despite the possibility of precipitation, it's become something of a tradition for Parade Day in Binghamton to have snow or rain. One thing is for sure- we don't let it stop us from enjoying the festivities!
