Binghamton’s Own Named Miss New York USA Finalist

Melissa Mbera is representing Binghamton in a big way. She’s been named a state finalist in the upcoming Miss New York USA 2025 competition, and it’s her first-ever pageant.

From England to Binghamton to the Pageant Stage

Melissa is a proud NYU graduate, holding a B.S. in Leadership and Management Studies, with a focus in International Business and Global Management. Raised between England and Binghamton, Melissa brings a global lens to everything she does, from community work to career aspirations.

Melissa describes herself as standing at the intersection of ambition, culture, and purpose. Her goal in competing? To show the world what her version of confidence looks like: authentic, driven, and deeply rooted in identity.

Workshops That Help Girls Grow

Melissa has made it a priority to host workshops, both virtual and in-person, that help young girls connect with and discover themselves. She’s passionate about helping the next generation understand their value and own their power.

Melissa’s journey has taken her through worlds of luxury fashion, diplomacy, advocacy, and strategic storytelling. She’s worked behind the scenes in campaign rooms, press studios, and boardrooms,  all with a mission to build inclusive narratives that connect and inspire.

In addition to English, Melissa is proficient in Spanish and French. She aspires to lead in global brand strategy, combining creativity with a strong heart for impact. No matter the setting, on stage, on set, or in a boardroom, her mission is to amplify voices, bridge worlds, and redefine leadership.

Giving Back with Kada’s Promise

Melissa is also partnering with Kada’s Promise, a nonprofit initiative that donates teddy bears to children in need. It’s one of the many ways she’s using her platform to give back and make a real difference.
